DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT
OF POSITION:

- Develop and implement individualized education programs (IEPs) for students.
- Adapt teaching methods and instructional material to meet students’ varying needs and interests
- Provide ABA therapy as directed by a BCBA
- Provide direct instruction in academic subjects as well as social, emotional, and life skills
- Utilize a variety of sensory-friendly teaching tools and techniques
- Create a structured and predictable classroom environment
- Collaborate with special education staff, speech therapists, other professionals, and BCBA Consultants
- Maintain accurate and timely records of students’ progress and behavior
- Participate in ongoing professional development related to autism and special education
- Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers to provide support and resources
- Experience with de-escalation strategies and willingness to be Safety Care Trained
- Ability to provide support and guidance to paraeducators to work towards students’ IEP goals and objectives
