DESCRIPTIVE STATEMENT
OF POSITION:
|
The Life Skills Teacher will maximize the learning experience of students within the Life Skills Program, in all functional skill areas (including academics, social, self-management, vocational, and activities of daily living), documenting teaching and student progress/activities, outcomes; addressing students' specific needs; providing a safe and optimal learning environment while including students in the least restrictive setting with the goal of generalization of functional skills.

QUALIFICATIONS:
|
- MA teaching license in Moderate or Severe Disabilities (required)
- Knowledge of Special Education principles, theories, testing, methods, etc. as well as proven methods of maximizing the educational experience of students with disabilities.
- Ability to implement positive behavioral supports (class-wide and individualized).
- Knowledge and experience utilizing ABA methodologies and procedures.
- Ability to lead a team of educational assistants and supervise their work including monitoring fidelity of instructional interventions.
- Ability to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team to meet student needs.
- Knowledge of differentiated instruction based upon student learning style, skill sets, and learning history.
- Ability to organize effectively and efficiently the classroom/program, instructional materials/programs, instructional data, and legal documents.
- Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and community partners.
- Ability to engage in reflection of performance and professional growth.
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others contacted in the course of work.
